Briefly, the Quilcene School District serves over 700 students through two programs; the K-12 Program on site at our district facility, and the PEARL Alternative Remote Learning, which serves students throughout WA State. As a result, we offer a wide range of Special Services for both programs which include:
SPECIAL EDUCATION: For students who are identified, birth through 21 years of age, who may need special education, and related services and support. Students determined eligible for special education services must meet all three of the following criteria:

CHILDFIND: Throughout the school year, we will continue to make every effort to reach out through our community to find children, birth through 21, who may require an evaluation in support of resources and services related to a suspected disabilities. The coordination of these efforts is founded through the district CHILD FIND program. If you suspect or have concerns about your child, are concerned about your infant or toddler's development, or you have received information identifying your child as having a disability, please give us a call at (360) 765-2934.
Additional information from the OSPI (WA State) Department of Education may best be found at OSPI Special Education .
SECTION 504: In many situations, students identified with disabilities, do not require "specially designed instruction" [SDI] within the Special Education program. For example, a student with hearing impairment, who can access instruction and learning with an "listening device" or a transmitter system, may simply require a Section 504 Plan accommodation plan in contrast to SDI. For more information, you may want to follow the link to the OSPI website.
HIGHLY CAPABLE: By Washington State law, students identified for Highly Capable Program services are those who “perform or show potential for performing at significantly advanced academic levels compared with others of their age, experiences, or environments. Outstanding abilities are seen within students' general intellectual aptitudes, specific academic abilities, and/or creative productivities within a specific domain.” Simply, if your child is out-performing his or her peers, demonstrates exceptional talent in one or more academic areas, or presents an unusual imagination and creativity, our Highly Capable program may be a resource to consider.
Our process includes:
-
Identification
-
Assessment
-
Evaluation
-
Placement (if your child meets the overall criteria)
