Hello Rangers!
The state-wide mask mandate in schools is set to end as of this coming Saturday. This is great news for many, and concerning for many others. The Quilcene School District will continue to follow the guidance and recommendations of our local health jurisdiction and our health officer, Dr. Berry as we have done throughout the pandemic.
What does this mean for our students and staff? The quickest answer is that masks will be optional for students and staff beginning March 12th. Generally, those who want to wear masks can, and those who don't are not required to do so (unless there is a specific health reason; see the attached flow sheet for more information).
Students and staff who choose to wear masks are fully supported in that decision; our expectation is that students and staff see the importance of allowing individual choice on this issue.
Many other things that we have been doing to help reduce the possibility of COVID transmission in schools will continue in some form. We will still maintain physical distancing where possible, testing will remain available for anyone who would like to be tested, and we will continue to notify students, staff, and parents of close contact with someone who is COVID positive at school.
As always, please feel free to contact me (360-765-2900) or Siehara Wong (360-765-2960) if you have any questions about this email, the changes coming next week, or any other COVID-at-school related issues.
Have a great day!
