Hello Rangers!
We have just started the second semester, but are busy planning for next year already and we would like you to give us some feedback on our proposed calendar.
The calendar that you see here has a lot of the normal calendar items; 180 days of instruction, starting on the first Wednesday of September, and time set aside for conferences in both first and second semester. Once again we planned for one week around the Thanksgiving holiday. New for next year, we propose a mid-winter break - a week in February away from school.
I ask for your comment and feedback on our proposed calendar. Please email feedback@qsd48.org with your thoughts and ideas. The Board of Directors will look at the proposal in our regular board meeting on February 17th, and I will include your input in our discussion of the calendar.

School Counselors Celebrate During National School Counseling Week, Feb. 1–5, 2021
National School Counseling Week 2021, “School Counselors: All in for All Students,” sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from Feb. 1–5, 2021, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
The special week honoring school counselors provides recognition for school counselors who implement comprehensive school counseling programs, a vital part of the educational process for all students as they meet the challenges of the 21st century.
We are very lucky to have our amazing school counselor, Tiffiny Jaber. Thank you for all you do!
On Monday, February 1st we held our weekly open house where we discussed up to date information that included our amended reopening plan, hybrid schedule, and second semester changes for high school students.

We are very excited to announce that beginning next week (2/08/21), students in grades 1 & 2 will be joining Kindergarteners on Mondays for in-person learning. This will mean that students in grades K-2 will be learning in-person four days per week. Over the course of the next few weeks we will then assess our ability to bring in the remaining elementary grade levels on Mondays as well.

On Monday, January 19th we held our weekly open house where we discussed up to date information that included our amended reopening plan and targeted support for high school students as they close out first semester.

This morning our Board of Directors approved amending our reopening plan in several ways. Consequently, beginning next Tuesday (1.19), students in Kindergarten will be on-campus Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday, grades 1-5 will be on-campus Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday, and students in grades 6-8 will either be on campus Monday & Tuesday if in Group A or Thursday & Friday if in Group B. High school students at risk of not passing 1st-semester classes will be in person Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday.

By proclamation of the governor, January is School Board Recognition Month. It’s a great time to recognize our elected community members who selflessly give their time and energy in support of high-quality public schooling for our youth. School board members in Quilcene School District are entrusted by this community with responsibility for an annual budget of $9.2 million, 643.6 student FTE, and 77 employees.
School boards are charged with making decisions that can sometimes be quite difficult, or require sifting through a great deal of information. They also bear responsibility for developing a vision that will guide the school district for years to come. Through collaboration as a team, and with school district staff, their governance and advocacy are building the future of education in Washington state.
This January, we’re encouraging all members of the community to thank a board member. Please thank them for volunteering their time and playing a critical civic role that helps form the bedrock of our democracy—public education. As a crucial bridge between the local community and the school district, their efforts are instrumental in helping all of us realize the hopes and dreams we have for the children of our community.

Welcome! Thank you for for viewing "Cozy," our QSD 2020 virtual winter concert. Congratulations to all the students for the hard work they put into this video. We hope you enjoy the show!
Please note: all performances were scheduled and pre-recorded individually over the course of a week with rigorous COVID safety precautions. Our recording engineers were able to make it look like students were performing at the same time but they were not. The only exception to this is when you see siblings or families together in one scene.
