LETTER FROM MR MOSS

06/01/2020

Dear Ranger Families, As we near the end of the school year, we will continue to celebrate the great accomplishments of our students as we would during a “normal” year; however, these celebrations will each look differently than in the past. By far the biggest of these events is graduation- the culminating event for our longest-tenured students. There has been a great deal of planning and creativity that has gone into this year’s ceremony and both the senior advisor, Veda Wilson, and school counselor, Tiffiny Jaber, have been instrumental in stepping up to the challenge. Scholarship Night Each year our community comes together in a way I’ve never before witnessed to award over $100,000 to graduating seniors. Usually this involves an awards ceremony in the multi-purpose room. This year, we will be holding a virtual awards ceremony tomorrow night at 6:00 pm over Zoom. We would love it if as many people as possible showed up to this event to support our graduating seniors. Login information for will be posted on our website tomorrow afternoon.

Graduation Graduation will take place using our back field on the evening of June 13th and will begin at 8:00 pm. For this, there will be rows of parking and all attendees will be asked to remain in their vehicles throughout the event (restrooms will be available). Parking will be limited, and so we ask that attendees limit themselves to one vehicle per household. Graduating seniors will each receive three reserved tickets which will allow their families the closest spaces. All other parking will be allotted be on a first-come basis the night of the event. “Doors” will open at 6:45 pm and we ask that all vehicles be parked in place by 7:45 pm. In celebration of the graduate’s accomplishments, at 10:00 pm there will be a professional fireworks show on the East side of the football field. 2020 Quilcene Graduation- June 13th at 8:00 pm

Planning for Next Year This Thursday will be the first meeting for a team of stakeholders focused on identifying what school may look like next September. On this team will be administration, teachers, parents, and students. If this is something you would like to take part in, please email the Superintendent’s Secretary, Jami Sukert, at jsukert@qsd48.org.

*Teaching & Learning  Student in grades K-5 will continue to be working daily with either compressed lessons or extended lessons. Teachers will continue to personalize work for each student and family based upon individual needs. o We will begin to collect materials needing to come back to the school (books, Chromebooks, etc.) on Wednesday. For this, bins will be placed on each bus. We ask that you please put all items in garbage bags and then seal the bags before placing them in the bins. We will also be collecting items directly at the school office. Please write your child’s name somewhere on each bag.

* Students in grades 6-12 will be completing their project on the 1970s, which is due on Wednesday. On Thursday, students will begin their new project covering the 1980s. One of the highlights will be students in Vocational Cooking class learning how to cook Sloppy Jo’s! USB drives for students who do not have internet access will be delivered on Wednesday.

*Monday’s “Open House” o Our Zoom Open Houses will continue each Monday evening at 6:00 pm. Each week, we will provide updated information and allow a time for questions.

Thank you and GO RANGERS,

Sean Moss

April 22, 2020

Hello, Quilcene K-2 Families!

We are excited to return to school in the upcoming 2020-21 school year! To add to the excitement of our return, there will be a few staff changes in order to capitalize on the individual strengths of our K-2 staff. We are very excited for our new roles:  Laura Munn will become our new Kindergarten teacher.  Lauren Kleinberg will become the new 1st grade teacher.  Kim Knudson will become the new 2nd grade teacher.

Mrs. Kleinberg and Ms. Munn will be swapping classrooms, and Mrs. Knudson will stay in her current classroom. Mrs. Kleinberg and Mrs. Knudson are excited to move with their current students so they can pick up where they left off in an expedited fashion, and Ms. Munn will start the year with a brand-new class of incoming Kindergartners! If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Moss in the office: (360) 765-2906, or by email: smoss@qsd48.org .

Very sincerely, Ms. Munn, Mrs. Kleinberg, & Mrs. Knudson
