Employee of the Week: Kim Knudson
When we think about what makes great teachers great, it all comes down to relationships. To quote Teddy Roosevelt, "People don't know how much you know until they know how much you care."
During regular times, this week's employee of the week constantly portrays qualities that show their dedication to building and maintaining positive relationship; however, the reason they were chosen as employee of the week is not because of what they did before COVID-19, but rather what they are now doing to foster what they started when we were all in-building together.
Each morning, this person wakes up to a full day of videotaping lessons so their students can still have that constant in front of them (and each day many of their students talk back to the screen throughout each lesson).
Each morning, this person wakes up to days fuller and longer than they were before the closure (longer not because they have to be, but rather because it's what's best for their students).
Each Morning, this person innovates new ways of reaching her students (before Spring Break, they began creating compressed lessons to allow students inroads into education that previously were unable to take part in longer lessons).
Each morning, this person embraces the unknown and continuously uses technology that is new to them because it benefits their students.
Each morning, this person is ready for meaningful Zoom conversations with her kids, who look forward to the interactions like they're Christmas morning.
Each morning, this person wakes up seeking professional development that can further strengthen their ability to serve our kids.
Congratulations to this week's employee of the Week- Kim Knudson!
