Hello and welcome to third grade! I am thrilled to be a teacher in Quilcene. I moved over to the Olympic Peninsula in June of 2018. This will be my 13th year in education and my third year with third grade. I received my Bachelor's degree in philosophy from The Evergreen State College. After college, my husband and I taught English in South Korea for a year and a half. Upon returning, I attended Antioch University where I completed my Masters in Education. Throughout my 13 years in education, I have worked with private and public schools abroad and in the Puget Sound region. I've worked as a paraeducator, teacher, and in administration. In 2014, I was awarded teacher of the year for Cascade Elementary School.
I live in Port Townsend with my husband, Dylan Quarles, who is one of Quilcene's Title 1 paraeducators. We spend a lot of time hiking around Fort Worden and on the beach. My favorite thing to do is travel! I’ve been to 22 countries and hope to add more to the list each year!
My favorite subjects to teach are social studies (Ancient Rome!) and science. Our classroom is filled with books, student artwork, and projects. We have a great view out of our window to the Olympic foothills and a fantastic staff to keep students engaged. Quilcene is an amazing community to be a part of.
