Elementary P.E.
While our school is closed, you get to have P.E. at home!
First, you can teach your family some of the movements we do:
- Skipping
- Galloping
- Bounding
- Kicking a ball – kick a ball around your yard
- Dribbling – if you have a bouncy ball and a place to bounce
- Throwing
- Stand sideways
- Make a muscle
- Step with your front foot in the direction you are throwing
- Catching
- Catch objects with your hands, not your body
- Make a diamond with your thumbs and index with you catch
- If you are catching something low, your pinkies should touch when you catch with your hands.
Play some games:
- Basketball with a laundry basket and a pair of socks for the ball
- Bob the Rock
- If your family is big enough, Head Honcho
Get moving!
- Go on a walk or ride bikes with your family.
- Take your dog on a walk or a run.
- Help your parents with some gardening or yardwork.
- If you have the right spot, draw a hopscotch and play.
- Build an obstacle course in your yard and practice running through it.
- Put on some music and dance.
