New Superintendent

June 08, 2023

Hello Rangers!

Yesterday afternoon, the Quilcene Board of Education offered the Interim Superintendent of the Quilcene School District to Ron Moag, who wholeheartedly accepted the position. The board and Ron will be meeting next week to negotiate his contract.

The board and I want to sincerely thank you all for your support and feedback in this process. From the surveys that you completed and the board used to help shape their questions to having representation on the interview committees, this has been a collaborative effort.

Ron started his educational career as a high school teacher, a DECA club advisor, and a coach. After spending 7 years teaching and coaching Ron moved into school administration, serving twenty-nine years as a school leader. He started as a high school assistant principal, principal, central office, and most recently as a school superintendent for two school districts.

With a B.S. degree from Aquinas College in Business Administration and Accounting, a master’s degree in educational leadership from Western Michigan University and currently finishing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Seattle University, Ron comes to us having devoted his professional life to learning.

Ron and his wife Sheri are looking forward to transitioning from their home in Seattle to their new life in Quilcene. They have five adult children, three grandchildren and enjoy numerous activities such as pickleball, tennis, yoga, and travel.

Management Review

May 26, 2023

Hello Rangers,

As many of you know, I asked the Washington Association of School Administrators to conduct a management review to give us feedback on our budgeting, central office, and administrative support staffing. The person conducting the review asked to meet with selected administrative and office personnel, and from those interviews, examination of documentation (like our budgets and strategic plan), and a review of comparable districts, he provided that feedback.

The management review document is attached to this notice. If you have any questions about the management review, the process, or what the reviewer wrote, I am happy to meet with you to talk about what he had to say.

Have a great day,

Dr. Frank Redmon

Weekly Update 5/22/23

May 23, 2023

First off, I want to give a huge shoutout to this week's Students of the week, Amber Thompson and Cody Hoffman. Amber and Cody are two students whose hard work has made them very worthy of this recognition, and we're incredibly proud of both of them!

Next, for the 11th consecutive year our very own Rangers Fastpitch Team will be travelling to Yakima for the State Playoffs. This streak is the longest in the state representing the 1B classification, and something we should all be incredibly proud of our student athletes (and coaches) for accomplishing. Please join us for a proper Quilcene send-off this Thursday at 9:40am in front of the school!

Finally, in this week's Weekly Update areas include a more in-depth look at our Students of the Week, a reminder that the Quilcene Spring Arts Extravaganza is this Wednesday at 5:00pm, events coming up this week, and a full list of all of the end of the year events that make Quilcene unique. This list has been updated since last week, so please be sure to look it over. Now included is the 5th Grade Wax Museum on 6.2 and the Walk of Fame through the elementary the day before graduation (this will be livestreamed, stay tuned for details).

First off, I want to give a huge congratulations to our Students of the Week, Lorenzo Mascaro-Bessey and Jaxon Taylor! Lorenzo was nominated for his overall leadership in class and Jaxon for his commitment to helping out his peers.

Tuesday, May 16th is the Fastpitch Senior Night as well as the League Championship. The game starts at 4:15pm, but festivities start before. It'd be great to see a huge turnout to support our Ranger Fastpitch Team as they fight for entry into the state tournament.

Lastly, this week's Weekly Update includes a more detailed look into our students of the week, a flyer for how to purchase a secondary (6-12) yearbook, events coming up this week, and important dates from now through the last day of school.
