WASA, along with the other Inclusionary Practices Professional Development cadre members, are excited to announce a free opportunity for all educators and families to learn from expert practitioners Shelley Moore and Katie Novak in a three-part series, Zooming In & Out on Inclusionary Practices.
Superintendent Chris Reykdal will kick off the series with a live welcome on January 11, 2023. He’ll be joined by Moore and Novak, who will explore specific stories about what inclusive practices look, sound, and feel like for individual students (zooming in), while also examining the necessary complex change work needed for inclusion to fully be realized (zooming out). To learn more about this event, hear from Katie and Shelley directly in this video.
Virtual meeting dates are January 11, February 6, and March 27, 2023, from 4–6 pm PT. Register here through the WEA, one of the IPP cadre partners.
A huge congratulations is in order for this week's students of the week, Ashley Jones and Charlotte Fay. Ashley was nominated by Mr. Thompson for excelling both in the classroom as well as while representing Quilcene on the athletic fields, and Charlotte was nominated by Mrs. Leonard for winning a tough math competition in class even though the rest of her class was in groups and she was her own group of one!
This week's Weekly Update areas include the upcoming P-5 Music performance, Free Winter Meal Boxes for Families, and Upcoming Events.

Congratulations to the 7th grade class for finishing the rain garden project by the new bus barn. The project was started in June and finished last week, just in time for the rain!
This rain garden catches the storm water runoff from the bus barn and E Rose St. It provides evergreens and fall colors for students to enjoy as they're arriving by bus and will be in full bloom this spring!
Congratulations to the Ranger Football Team, which have again made it into the state tournament. The team will be traveling to Walla Walla this Friday to play Desalles at 3:00pm.
Congratulations are also in order for our students of the week, Daisy Bloom and Kaden Faller. Daisy is being recognized for amazing work in her math class, and Kaden for tremendous perseverance in his computer science class.
Before we get to the Weekly Update, this Friday there will be no school in observance of Veteran's Day. On Thursday, we're inviting all veterans to campus for a special assembly which will take place at 10:00 am in the gym. Veterans should plan on arriving beginning at 9:30 am, at which time they'll be met by student volunteers and offered coffee and pastries. Veteran's will then be invited for a special lunch at the conclusion of the assembly.
As far as the Weekly Update, this week we again recognize our students of the week, discuss this week's upcoming activities, talk about the importance of student agency in school, and review conferences which are just around the corner.
