Hello Rangers,
At a special meeting of the board of directors on April 26th, I submitted a letter of resignation, effective June 30th.
A copy of the letter is below. I want each of you to know that this was not an easy or quick decision on my part. There is so much that we have been able to accomplish over the five years I have been able to serve as your superintendent, and I know there is much more we could do together.
There are a few reasons I need to move on, the most significant being that Sharon (my guiding and guardian angel that the term "wife" does not adequately capture) has been accepted to begin her Ph.D. at Penn State next year and I need to be closer to her and support her next exciting adventure just as she has supported me for more than 25 years.
I will miss our work together and the relationships we have established both to support our students and each other.
If you want to talk more, or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to come by the office, stop me in the hallway, text - whatever makes sense for you.
I am sure you are wondering "what now" for the role of superintendent for Quilcene. The board will be working that out over the next couple of weeks. I will stay engaged to help and ensure a smooth transition.
Proud to be a Ranger with you,
Frank
Good Morning,
A want to give a huge shoutout to this week's students of the week, Nolan Grant and Sara Eldridge. Nolan was nominated by both his MS teachers for showing a strong commitment to his education over the past several weeks, and Sara was nominated by her HS Math teacher for winning her division at the state mathletes competition, which also earned her the title of Distinguished Senior for the State of Washington!
In this week's weekly update, we've included a section highlighting important dates between now and the end of the school year, more detailed information about the students of the week, a link to a really important short video explaining the importance of brain breaks in the learning process, and a list of events taking place this week.

Lastly, if you'd like a printed copy of the Weekly Update to hang on the fridge showing what's coming up, please see Tammy or Siehara in the office.
As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.
Mr. Moss
Good Afternoon,
First off, a huge congratulations is in order for this week's Students of the Week, Maya Dressler and Hunter Robinson. Maya was nominated by her High School Readiness teacher for always bringing genuine kindness and generosity to class and Hunter was nominated by his Culinary Arts teacher for approaching every task with a level of enthusiasm and determination that is truly inspiring. Great job, Maya and Hunter!
Next, please remember that this Saturday is our Snow Make Up day from 8:20am - noon. Buses will be running on our normal half day schedule. Each grade level is planning something special, and the day will conclude with a BBQ lunch!
Finally, in this week's Weekly Update areas of focus include an article on three simple ways for teachers to build relationships, more information about our students of the week, a reminder that there will be a MS dance this Friday from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, and a list of events and activities happening this week.

It was wonderful welcoming students back on campus and catching up with them throughout the day yesterday!
I want to extend a huge congratulations to this week's Students of the Week, Kaetyn Riley and Kole Eldridge. Kaetyn was nominated for her hard work in math, and Kole for his ability to bring critical thinking skills to his literature class.
Next, I wanted to remind families of students in grades 5-9 that Human Growth and Development Classes are taking place this week. For this, I'd greatly encourage parents to ask their students about what they're learning and taking the time to answer any questions students may have.
On Saturday, 4.22, we'll be having our snow make-up day from 8:20am - noon. On this day, elementary students will be engaged in exciting classroom projects, students in grades 6-7 will be busy working on a special outdoor project, and students in grades 8-12 will be able to opt into a choice learning project of their choice (Raku Pottery Firing, Open Mic Music Time, Linger-Longer Cleanup, etc.). For more information, please see the poster using the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/
From the elementary front, Spring Spirit Week will take place April 17th - 21st. On these days, students and staff are encouraged to show their school spirit by dressing up for each day. Please see the poster detailing each day's theme using the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/
Finally, in this week's Weekly Update areas include a great article on the importance of teachers taking the time to let students know you care about them, a special thank you to the Quilcene Lions Club for supporting our students of the week by providing them with free ice cream tickets, a more in-depth highlight of our students of the week, and upcoming events.

We want to give a huge shoutout to our Students of the Week, Jayden Minish and Brianne Evans. Jayden was nominated by his MS humanities teacher for being proactive about his assignment due dates, and Brianne was nominated by her HS Algebra teacher for earning a 100% on her Chapter 6 Test.
Next, as a reminder, conferences are taking place this week. A letter was sent home last week detailing how these look in the different grade levels. Please see me or contact the front office with any questions. Next year's schedule has additional conference time, and we're excited to work with staff and families to discuss how to improve the way that we conference with parents in the future. While conferences are a great way for our staff to meet with parents, please remember that, as a small school, families should feel welcome to engage with their child's teachers at all times.
Finally, in this week's Weekly Update, highlights include a very informative article on how teachers can use ChatGPT to maximize learning time, a reminder that the Snow Make Up day is coming up and will take place on Saturday, April 22nd, a more in-depth highlight of the Students of the Week, and upcoming events (lots of home fastpitch and baseball games this week!).

The Quilcene Career Explorations class recently had a visit from FF/EMT Secondez from East Jefferson Fire Rescue who came and spoke to the students about careers in the fire service.
A huge shoutout is in order for this week's Students of the Week, Avana Williams and Kaydence Yeoman, Avana for her work in her MS STEM class and Kaydence for her work in her Visual Arts Class. In addition to being featured in the Weekly Update, Students of the Week are also being recognized in the PT Leader.
This month is Classified Staff Appreciation Week, which is all of our staff other than teachers. We literally would not be able to run the school without these folks, and their work is absolutely vital to our students. In appreciation of these individuals, there will be a Nacho Bar for all staff in the staff lounge during lunches this Thursday. Carrie Thompson is organizing this, so please make sure to thank her when you see her.
Lastly, conferences are coming up next week. Please take a look at the Weekly Update for how these will look for the different grade levels. A letter is also being sent out via Remind and Snail Mail tomorrow.
