Superintendent Frank Redmon presents outgoing director Mark Apeland with an award for his years of service.
This week our 7th Graders are working hard with Mrs. Beck and Mr. Lake as they take part in "Life in the Salish Seas", a field experience focused on marine science. During the three-day experience, students will be dissecting herring as they learn about the Salish Sea Food Web, researching marine mammals through direct observations, looking at several different crab species, and generally coming together as a team.
It was a great day as we started off with a K-12 assembly featuring artist Nicholas Sironka (or simply Sironka for short), from the Massai Tribe in Kenya. Following the assembly, Sironka led a daylong workshop where each grade level spent time working to complete a canvas Batik painting. Once finished, art students worked to finalize the piece as they learned the process of stretching canvas around a frame. The completed artwork will be available for viewing.
