Hello Rangers!
The changes about school and learning that were coming so fast as we entered into the stay at home, stay healthy order have considerably slowed – whew! That being said, we have received clarification on two major areas that I would like to relay to you.
The first is about the school year. Originally, the last day of school was June 12th. Because of the time it took our brick and mortar program to re-tool and transition from in-person to remote learning and because of the reduced number of hours students are engaged in learning per day (generally, although I know students and parents are working very hard to engage in learning!) our school year has been extended by five days. Our new last day of school is Friday, June 19th. The last day for Seniors is June 12th, with graduation on June 13th. The PEARL school calendar has not been affected.
Veda, Mr. Moss, and the Senior class are in the midst of planning a graduation ceremony that both honors the work of our graduates as well as all of the love, support, and tireless effort that their families and community have put forth to get them to high school graduation. More details on the graduation ceremony will be coming in the next few weeks.
On the other side of the spectrum, our community preschool teacher, Viviann Kuehl is retiring at the end of the school year. The Quilcene School District is committed to ensuring our community has a developmentally appropriate preschool available for our three and four-year-old learners. There are still many details to work out, such as where the program would be housed, and what cost, if any, to the families whose children are attending would be charged. What we do know is that we would like to continue the program that Viviann created – an exploratory, expeditionary, and exemplary experience for all learners. Stay tuned, as more details will be put out on our website and our Facebook page.
Stay Engaged, Stay Healthy!

Good Afternoon, everybody!
This week we show our appreciation for our teachers – the dedicated and highly trained professional educators who have dedicated their lives to ensure children learn the skills and abilities that will help them be successful adults. The incredible relationships they create with their students becomes even more evident when school is not in session, or as we have seen in the past 8 weeks, when students and staff are not able to come to their school in person. Students miss seeing their teachers as much as their teachers miss seeing their students!
Teachers, we appreciate you, the work that you do, the endless hours and effort you gladly put in for the sake of student learning – whether it be to support the academic progress, to serve as class and club advisors or coaches, to help students through a tough assignment or just a tough day. Students come to school to see you, to learn from you, and to draw from your wisdom to help them as they grow and develop into the successful adults you help them to become.
On behalf of the Quilcene School Board, Administrators, and Support Staff, Thank you!
