Dear Ranger Families,
Some of the highlights of a small school are the yearly events & activities that take place throughout May & June, almost all of which were missed last year due to Covid-19. Since that time, we’ve come to understand much more about how to stay safe. Consequently, we’re proceeding with almost all spring activities & events, using what we’ve learned over the last year to keep everyone safe. This will include both physical distancing and masks being mandatory at all events. These events and activities are only possible as long as we continue to do what we’ve learned to keep our community healthy.
To ensure you’re able to schedule and prepare for the rest of the school year, below are brief explanations of each activity or event:
National Honor Society (NHS) Induction- 6:00 pm on May 10th in the MPR
To be inducted into the Quilcene Chapter of the NHS, students in grades 7-12 who earned a GPA of at least 3.25 were invited to complete an application which then had to be approved by a council of Quilcene faculty. Parents and immediate family members are encouraged to attend. This event will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
Prom- 9:00 pm – 11:30 pm on May 15th Outside of the School Gym
Quilcene students in grades 8-12 are welcomed to attend this year’s prom (guests from other schools will not be able to attend). Tickets are $15 for individuals or $20 for couples. Upon arrival at the gym foyer, students will be asked specific questions relating to Covid-19, have their temperatures checked, and complete rapid Covid-19 testing before walking the red carpet.
Jr/Sr Banquet- 6:00pm on May 17th at the Worthington Mansion
One of the more lighthearted celebrations leading up to graduation, this event is hosted by the Junior class and will include dinner. Immediate families of both Juniors and Seniors are encouraged to attend.
Scholarship Night- 6:00 pm on June 1st in the MPR
Each year, Quilcene students are collectively awarded over $100,000 in local scholarships on this night. Featuring representatives from several local and regional groups, families are highly encouraged to attend. This event will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
Senior Baccalaureate- 6:00 pm on June 6th at the Quilcene Assembly of God
Hosted by the churches of our community, the annual senior baccalaureate serves as an opportunity for the greater congregations to celebrate the achievements of graduating students.
Walk of Fame- June 11th During the School Day
If one event sums up what truly makes our school so special, that event is the annual “Walk of Fame.” After putting on their robes and caps for the first time, graduating seniors proudly walk through the elementary while students in grades K-5 cheer them on. This event will be live-streamed.
Kindergarten/ 1st Grade Graduation- 6:00 pm on June 11th on the Football Field
Due to Covid-19, we were unable to hold a kindergarten graduation last year. Consequently, this year’s event will feature both Kindergarten and First Grade Students. For this, one of the classes will be elaborately dressed in purple robes & caps while the other will be in gold. Families are highly encouraged to attend. This event will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person.
Graduation- 2:00 pm on June 12th on the Football Field
This year’s graduation will be held on the football field, with the Quilcene Class of 2021 using the permanent bleachers for seating and as a stage. Quilcene faculty will be seated in ceremonial robes and hoods on one side of the bleachers while the board of directors and speakers will be seated on the other. Each graduating senior will be allotted a set amount of tickets for family and friends. Additional tickets will be released based upon availability.
Lastly, we will continue to be proactive in communication through our Weekly Virtual Open Houses each Monday as well as by providing updates on our website, Class Dojo, and Remind. However, if you ever have questions please don’t hesitate to email or call myself or our school office.
Thank you and GO RANGERS,

Spring migration has begun! A flock of ducks is migrating through Quilcene in the month of May and will likely arrive on your lawn to feed! Please support the Class of 2023 by participating or purchase your flock insurance to make sure no ducks find your property.
Many of you have likely heard about the FCC's "Emergency Broadband Benefit" (EBB) program that will go live within the next couple weeks. This program will provide $50/mo to qualifying households to defray the cost of internet ($75/mo on tribal lands) and up to $100 to assist with the purchase of a computer, laptop, tablet, etc. Funding will last until it runs out or until six months after the end of the pandemic, whichever comes first. It is fully expected that the funds will run out before the end of the pandemic...
The Jefferson County Library wants to make sure that our community members who need it most are 1) made aware of the EBB, and 2) provided application assistance if necessary. To that end, we're coordinating Information Sessions for community leaders who work with those populations (and anyone else who is interested!). Dates, times, and links are below, as is a short description of the EBB program.
